How do you tie your dressing gown?
It’s something that not many of us would have probably put much thought into.
But the seemingly innocent question has sparked a divide online as apparently, we’ve been doing it wrong our whole lives.
Megan, known as @meggarlandd on TikTok, shared the ‘correct’ way to tie your dressing gown – and she reckons we’ll never wear one the same again.
In a video that has been viewed more than 2.6 million times on the social media platform, mum-of-three Megan, who is originally from England but now lives in Canada, shows herself doing up the purple robe in the traditional way – with a knot at the front.
But she said: “I’ve been wearing a house coat wrong this whole time.”
Megan then undoes the knot she just made, removes the rope completely and instead threads it through the front first.
She continued: “Loop it through the front vs around your back.
“Trust me, just go and try it. You’ll never wear one the same again.”
Doing it this way will stop the rope from digging into your back when you sit down – genius.
Since being posted, her video has been liked almost 100,000 times and received more than 1100 comments from impressed viewers who were eager to try it out themselves.
One person said: “I’m questioning every single decision I’ve made the last 20 years.”
Another wrote: “I’m holding in a scream so I don’t wake my kids [right now]. WHHHHATTTT ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!?!!!!!”
“I learned this recently on TikTok and my robe game is forever changed,” said a third.
While a fourth commented: “This is perfect considering I spend most of my time in my housecoat.”
But others were more concerned by the fact that she calls it a ‘housecoat’, as one said: “Who calls a dressing gown a housecoat!”
